The Antibody Test - Past Exposure
The exciting new test for IgG antibodies reliably measures whether you have any antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in your blood with 99% accuracy. While not everyone develops antibodies and it is not yet clear what level of immunity is conferred from the body developing antibodies to past infections it is very valuable information to know how many people have been exposed to the virus in our community.
The PCR Test - Current Infection
This is a swab test that detects the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus (covid-19) in your nose and throat. If you want to know whether the symptoms that you or your loved ones are suffering from right now are being caused by coronavirus, then this is the test you need.
We use a molecular assay (PCR) method which is greater than 99.9% accurate in detecting RNA from the coronavirus, so if covid-19 is on the swab you send to us, we will find it.
Why Does It Cost Money?
The NHS simply does not have the logistical resources at the moment to test everyone who would benefit from knowing whether they have been infected by SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. We appreciate that the NHS' limited resources do need to be used in the most effective way, however we do very much hope that access to testing gets better quickly so that everyone who needs a test can get one easily. In the meantime we are proud to be able to help where we can by making tests available to anyone who chooses to invest their personal resources in getting tested, relieving some of the intense pressure on our public services. On an individual level it can make a big difference to yourself, those close to you, and the wider community, knowing whether you are infected by covid-19 and whether you are infectious to others and whether you have already had it in the past - perhaps without any symptoms at all.
We guarantee that purchasing a test from us does not in any way impact on the availability of testing for our amazing NHS and other front-line staff - or any one else. Our tests are being performed entirely within spare capacity that Public Health England and the NHS have not yet called on. We will be delighted to go back to providing standard laboratory testing as soon there is no demand for SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus tests which we hope is soon. We commit to never charging more than is necessary to provide this service to you without any government funding.
How long does shipping take and time to get my results?
The whole process takes between 5-10 working days, this is not our usual speedy turnaround due to the delays caused by the current climate. All samples are in a sealed test tube and do not require time specified return or refrigeration.
When you place your order it will be dispatched the next working day by 1st Class Royal Mail.
It will then take between 2-5 working days to reach you.
When you receive your kit, carry out the test and send the sample back, it will take 2-4 working days to reach the lab.
Upon reaching the lab they will process it within 1-2 working days and as soon as completed the lab will email you directly with your results.
Thank you for your patience, we are trying our best to speed up the process as much as possible at each stage.
What To Do If You're Unwell
Whether you get tested or not, and whether you find you are carrying coronavirus or not, always follow the government's advice. Look at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/ for the most up to date information but go straight to https://111.nhs.uk/ if you are unwell.
